The Winona County History Museum uses exhibits, dioramas and a fine collection of artifacts that explore the history of the region. Visitors to the site can travel through displays on regional geology, local Native American society and later logging towns that sprung up along this stretch of the Mississippi. The award-winning interactive children's exhibit allows the younger crowd to enter a reconstructed cave, tipi or steamboat. The museum is located in the historic armory building, a few blocks north of Winona State University.
Open Mon. - Fri. 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; Sat. - Sun. noon - 4:00 p.m.
